further technical difficulties

OK: I’m back from Beijing, and there will be a long and highly entertaining entry later on about how everything there went wrong in exactly the right way later on.

In the meantime: I came back to Harbin to find that (a) it’s freezing and I can see my breath in my apartment; (b) the heat will not be turned on until November; (c) I seem to have contracted a lung infection (now getting better) while in Beijing. Oh, and also, the phone line in my apartment (and, of course, the ‘net connection that relies on it) is still turned off, which limits me to posting crap like this from work, instead of real, interesting entries.

Ah well. All of these are fixable.

And if you feel like calling, my phone number is still (011 +86) 13684665171. It should actually be working now.

I anticipate a lot of weather reports in the next few weeks. When I was growing up, we had no heat in the house. I remember one morning being able to hold my jeans out horizontally in front of me becuase they were frozen. There were so many blankets on the bed you woke up exhausted and semi-pressed.

But we had fun in those days. Oh–put times on your page when it would be apropriate to call. US Eastern Standard Time.

    Looking forward ot the posts.

So what is a “tea egg”? If you’re not going to tell stories, you could at least give recipes.
